As of today, it has been 51 days since our last positive community member and 43 days from our last staff member COVID-19 cases.
The purpose of this message is to inform you of the changes we are implementing in regards to our community member visitation policies for your specific area. We understand that everyone is anxious to get back to how things were before. However, until there is a vaccine, I fear that will not be a possibility.
In order to help balance the emotional well-being of our community members we feel it is important for them to be able to see their families.
The State of Ohio has outlined specific guidelines for visitation in regards to Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing. A separate communication has been sent to the community members and family members in each of our care areas.
Independent Living Community Members and Family Members:
Effective Monday, June 8, 2020 – Independent Living Apartments and Villas are able to resume visitation under the following restrictions:
- All visitors will be screened at the Gatehouse prior to coming on to campus. The screening requires confirmation of the community member’s name and unit number. Each visitor is required to provide a photo ID, respond to COVID-19 specific questions, go through a health screening, and take part in a contactless temperature scan. If a potential visitor does not meet screening criteria they will be asked to leave and to follow up with campus administration.
- Visitor Hours are Mon-Fri 9am – 6pm. Weekends from 10am – 5pm.
- Visitors are required to wear masks when inside the facility.
- Visits must take place inside the community member’s apartment/home only.
- All visits must stay within the State of Ohio’s order limiting meetings to 10 or less persons and social distancing must be observed.
Assisted Living Community Members and Family Members:
All visits for Skilled Nursing and Assisted Living community members will be scheduled out a week in advance by our life enrichment team. This will be starting the week of June 8, 2020. Please do not reach out to our team members, they will be calling each family individually to schedule a visit.

For Traditional Assisted Living, the State of Ohio has allowed for contactless outside visits. These visits will take place on the southwest corner of our Chapel, where we have poured a concrete patio. As part of the regulation community members and family members are required to wear a mask and to remain socially distanced. Western Reserve can provide a mask to family members if they do not have one.
If there is non-compliance with any of the protocols future visits will be prohibited. This visit should be contactless as well and will be 15 minutes in length.
Skilled Nursing Community Members and Family Members:
All visits for Skilled Nursing and Assisted Living community members will be scheduled out a week in advance by our life enrichment team. This will be starting the week of June 8, 2020. Please do not reach out to our team members, they will be calling each family individually to schedule a visit.

For Skilled Nursing, the State of Ohio has continued their prohibition of visitors in Nursing Homes. This includes outdoor visits.
WRMC is starting a WINDOW visit program for Skilled Nursing community members. These visits will take place at the parking area next to the 2nd floor of the parking deck and will be 15 minutes in length. Our staff will assist the community member via phone or FaceTime so that they can communicate with their loved ones that are standing outside.
If there is non-compliance with any of the protocols future visits will be prohibited. This visit should be contactless as well and will be 15 minutes in length.
Memory Care Community Members and Family Members:

Our staff will assist the community member via phone or facetime so that they can communicate with their loved ones that are standing outside. Our team members will have more specific information when they call to set up your visit.
If there is non-compliance with any of the protocols future visits will be prohibited. This visit should be contactless as well and will be 15 minutes in length.
There is still a significant danger in visiting seniors during this pandemic. Allowing visitors is not stating that we feel that it is safe to return to normal practices. Seniors are at a high risk of mortality if COVID-19 is contracted. We hold the right to end visitations at any time should we feel it is in the best interest of the safety our community members.
We thank everyone for their patience and understanding. We are taking every step possible to resume visitations in a safe manner.
